RuhrGeo Day
The reconstruction of the Emscher system is one of the most important European infrastructure projects of the last two decades. In 2010, the geotechnical challenges of this major project were presented at the 2nd RuhrGeo Day. Today, the reconstruction work has been completed and we take this as an opportunity to discuss the experience gained during the geotechnical work with the Emschergenossenschaft Lippeverband (EGLV) at the 12th RuhrGeo Day.
The RuhrGeo Day 2023 was opened by an overview lecture on the reconstruction of the Emscher system. The first block of topics focused on the construction of the sewer and the deep shaft structures. This was followed by a block on the rehabilitation and new construction work on the dikes. The event was concluded with contributions on soil management and the ecological transformation of water bodies.
The event was accompanied by a geotechnical exhibition. It was held in cooperation with the Association of Consulting Engineers (VBI).
